MEETING

After an almost inactive sports athletic year in 2020 due to the restrictive measures for the covid-19 pandemic, Portarathlon is coming back to fascinate us! Naxos will host the Portarathlon International Combined Events Meeting, as it did in 2018 and 2019.

Portarathlon, Women’s Heptathlon and Men’s Decathlon, will be held at the Municipal Stadium of Naxos on the 17th and 18th of May.

The 5th Portarathlon will once again welcome a large number of athletes from all over the world. It is highly promising that in 2020 lots of them had expressed their interest in taking part in the Event.

Portarathlon is also expected to be attended by the best Greek decathletes and the most important Greek heptathletes as the Greek National Men-Women Combined Events Championship will be held at the same time.

Those who will find themselves in Naxos on the 17th and 18th of May, will enjoy a great sports show, the fantastic natural scenery that Naxos offers, the positive energy that the legendary Portara Monument inspires and will have the opportunity to indulge in the warm Naxian hospitality.

We expect a reunion of champions, with important names and great performances, as Portarathlon opens an Olympic year.

eas segas kykladon

On behalf of the Management of SEGAS, I welcome this year’s event of PORTARATHLON and, believing that I also express the wider sports community, I must say that we look forward to the success and prospects of this pioneering event for our country. The peculiarity of this event extends beyond the indisputable value of the complex sports that it includes, since it reflects the special dynamics of the sports and the wider local community of Naxos and the Cyclades.

Those who contribute, in any way, to the realization of these special struggles and to the justification of the vision that gave birth to them, deserve sincere and warm congratulations and the corresponding recognition.

Just wishing good luck is not enough. Everyone should know that SEGAS really wants to meet its full potential in the organization of such events, both independently as a Federation and in its cooperation with all the bodies involved or interested.

The future of Greek sports demands transcendence from all of us. This is a responsibility we can fulfil if we are all together towards our common goal of a better sporting future.

That is why an event like PORTARATHLON, is even more important today!

Good luck !

President of EAS SEGAS
