Ukraine is traditionally acknowledged as one of the most powerful presences in Combined Events. As it is, this Eastern European country couldn’t but be represented at the highest level in the “Portarathlon” 1st International Meeting, taking place on Naxos at the weekend of 2nd & 3rd June.
The chance to see in action two of the best Ukrainian players, among other distinguished decathlon and heptathlon athletes, will have the spectators in the Municipal Stadium of Naxos in Chora: Rimma Hordiyenko and VasylI Vanitskiy have accepted the organizers’ invitation and they will be present in the Meeting.
Rimma Hordiyenko is 22 years old and she made a dynamic start this year with a personal heptathlon record at 5.762p. in the International Combined Events Meeting in Florence on the 27th-28th April καταλαμβάνοντας την έκτη θέση.
Last year she ended the season at 5.737p., which was set in the national championship in Lutsk on the 6th-7th June, placing herself on the second position nationwide. She also won the national championship in pentathlon that took place in Sumy on the 17th February. Of course, she was member of the Ukrainian team that won the Super League in the European Championship of Combined Events Teams in Talin on the 1st-2nd July 2017.
Her personal best in Heptathlon disciplines are: 200m – 25.24, 800m – 2.27.08, 100m Hurdles – 13.76, High Jump – 1.83m, Long Jump – 6.23m, Shot Put – 13.70m, Javelin Throw – 40.77m.
VasylI Vanitskiy is 27 years old and has had a great number of participations in big sports events so far. He also was a member of the Ukrainian team that won the Super League in the European Championship of Combined Events Teams in Talin. It was in that meeting that he set his personal record at 7,801p. He has won the national decathlon championship 3 times and the heptathlon championship 4 times, the last one being this year in Sumy (9th -10th/02).
His personal records in decathlon are: 100m – 10.84, 400m – 49.73, 1,500m – 4.32.26, 110m. Hurdles – 14.59, High Jump – 2,07m, Pole Vault – 4,70m, Long Jump – 7,78m, Shot Put – 13,64m, Discus Throw – 43,17m, Javelin Throw – 60,88m.
